My twin boys have difficulty focusing and staying still for a period of time. This affects their grades in school tremendously, so I decided to do as much research as possible to help them over come this phase. Yes, I say phase because they will pass over it. Upon my research ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) or ADHD ( Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) are two of the terms that came up on my research. I was recommended to several specialist to do evaluations and treatments. I did not want to go through all these specialist, but after constant complains at school I decided to give one a try. After evaluating one of my sons, she stated that more evaluation and therapy with a specialist would be necessary to fully determine what other steps we would need to take. Fine, I agreed, then she gave me the name of few medication that would help to keep him focus. Really?? Are there such a thing as medication to keep you focus? wow! She then went over a few of the side effects the medications come with. She also asked me to do my own research on the medication before I choose any. The results I came up with were disturbing, the negative outweighed the positive in my opinion. As for me, it seems like I would make it worst for my boys, so I decided to create different strategies to help them focus and stay on task. They are doing much better! So proud!

in my experience with my 3 yr old, i stay involved no matter i am doing. Sometimes its up to parents to have more time listening, being and involvement with their children than medicating the situation.
